Hungry Children

THIS IS HUNGER

-Around 300 million children go hungry everyday

-Around 160 millions of children are rickety.

-Around 8500 children in the world die everyday.

In the XXIst century, these numbers are very disappointing. But more disappointing is knowing that this happens in the poorest countries, where almost of them are in armed conflicts. Contemporary examples are Syria, Irak or South Sudan.

Since March 2011, Syria is in war, civilians are forced to run away to Europe, and in this current dispute , the hunger is an underrated  dilemma. Eight million Syrians depend on farming and almost all of their harvest ended up damage, including agricultural infrastructure. This is a harmful statistic for Syrian population. 2013 was the worst harvest season since a drought nearly 30 years ago. Average family's expenditure was for obtaining basic food. Before the conflict buying bread used to be around 15 syrian pounds, after the war the price reachs 500 syrian pounds.

Trying to find a piece of bread in the line of fire is something that happened every day. The hazard is major but it is taking this risk or dying.

(Ali, 13 years old)

"This is a message from the Syrian people to world leaders. I am 13 years old and I am Syrian. I am Ali (...) In Syria we have no good food and not enough water. we only have lentils. So we ate lentils every day. We would see wounted people and dead bodies every day in the street, and many children who did not have homes. They are living in schools. But now they don't even have a school to live in. I am asking the leaders of the world to provide us safe shelter, food, water, medicine - this is all we ask. Please, please, please - help us".

Around two million Syrians are unable to buy food as result of this war. Thanks to ONGs like Save The Children child famine is reduced by half. Save The Children is the leading independient organization for children in need. STC has programs in 120 countries, probably in yours aswell! So don't turn your back to these kids.

Things like these, must be eradicate.
